Gina Manneh is no stranger to travel. Her career takes her to catwalks and fashion shoots around the world. She recently arrived back in Cambridge, UK after some time off in The Gambia.Â
“I had a fantastic holiday. And had a great time with my family, friends and fans,†she told What’s On-Gambia.Â
It was the UK-based model’s first visit in 14 years and she described it as a successful holiday packed full of activities. Gina was invited at different high profile events and held meetings with senior government officials.Â
The model said: “I visited the Maternity Hospital in Sukuta. When I was there, a woman was in labor and hearing the baby’s first cry was so wonderful. That was my first time being near a woman in labor. But I wasn't allowed to see what was happening behind the curtains.â€Â
She continued: “I hosted Titi's New Year’s Eve gala. It was nerve-racking, I had to speak in front of the guests. I am someone that can walk on the runway in front of thousands of people, but to talk is a problem.â€Â
The 24-year-old also made an appearance on DJ Lamin Cham’s Saf Connection TV show, talking about her career and living abroad.Â
During her 5-week stay, Gina met with the Vice President, Dr. Aja Isatou Njie-Saidy. They discussed, among other things, the role of Gambians abroad in promoting the good image of the country.Â
The gorgeous model, who is well-known for her collection of designer dresses, arrived in the country with some of the latest styles by top designers like Michael Kors, Christian Louboutin, Armani and Louis Vuitton.Â
“But most of it was stolen at the airport between London and Gambia. I lost part of my luggage,†she disclosed to What’s On-Gambia.Â
Did Gina receive any marriage proposal during her holiday?Â
She responded: “Well, as always they wanted to date. I didn’t go to The Gambia to play around. Because am not getting any younger, I want someone that I can spend the rest of my life with.â€Â
She added: “Lots of people kept telling me to get married. But I need to find the man who will make me happy. I don't want him to love me for what I am but who I am.â€Â
Gina was recently featured on DSTV’s program, Star Gist. She is unquestionably one of the most successful Gambian models living in the diaspora.Â
