Concerns have been raised over allegations that some keke drivers, particularly Nigerian drivers, are consuming alcohol at a bar in Serre Kunda on Sunday mornings before starting their workday.
A concerned citizen told What’s On-Gambia that a bar located opposite the Guinea Garage in Serre Kunda is allegedly frequented by some keke drivers in the early hours of Sunday mornings.
“There is a bar opposite the Guinea Garage in Serre Kunda, where Nigerian keke drivers go to drink alcohol in the morning,” the concerned citizen alleged.
According to the source, some of the drivers allegedly leave the establishment highly intoxicated before getting behind the wheel, raising concerns about the safety of passengers and other road users.
The allegations have prompted calls for greater vigilance, particularly on Sunday mornings, with members of the public urged to exercise caution when boarding keke vehicles if they suspect a driver may be under the influence of alcohol.
While these claims have not been independently verified, the allegations highlight broader concerns about road safety and the dangers of driving under the influence.
