One of The Gambia’s rising rap talents, Toshib, has titled his debut EP after the popular online media outlet What’s On-Gambia, also known as the Grand Bantaba.
According to him, the EP was inspired by What’s On-Gambia’s boldness and its commitment to promoting a better Gambia where every young person can dream and achieve.
Based in Kanifing South, Toshib is also pursuing higher education at the University of The Gambia. If he successfully graduates, he will be among the few Gambian musicians to hold a university degree – balancing academics with a blossoming music career.
The EP is already making waves. With 15 tracks, it is a historic release for the Gambian music industry, as no artist has previously produced such a large number of songs in a single EP.
Toshib has also dropped a music video for the title track, which has already amassed over 18,000 views on YouTube since its release. Fans have flooded the comments with encouragement, with one supporter writing: “Blie bro, you are so talented. Keep it up! Your shining time is coming, Insha Allah. I wish you all the best.”
With this bold move, Toshib is not only cementing his name in the industry but also paying homage to a platform that has shaped discourse and inspired countless young Gambians.
