Alhagie Manka has yet again registered The Gambia on a global stage after being recently awarded by West Africa Youth Awards (WAYA) as Creative Professional of the Year.
Though Manka has been a cinematographer for many years now, his popularity took a hike during the last December political impasse when he fall victim of ex-President Jammeh’s arbitrary arrests. Quite a number of people took to social media demanding his release.
But he became a household name after successfully raising the profile of President Barrow and his coalition members through sharing photos and videos of what would become a symbol of the ‘New Gambia’.
As the CEO of State of Mic Multimedia, one of The Gambia’s leading multimedia companies, Manka’s creativity has earned him the trust of International Organizations as a media partner for their visibility. Prominent among them is the European Union office (EU) in The Gambia, UNFPA and UNICEF.
He is also celebrated as a gender activist, which has been manifested through his work with leading youth organization against FGM and gender based violence like, Safe Hands for Girls, Think Young Women and The Girls Agenda.
Join us to congratulate Alhagie Manka and his State of Mic team, where CREATIVITY IS KEY!
