The famous sacking of the Chief Executive Officer of the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GiEPA) has received the support of his former American girlfriend.
Angela Kelly gave her support for President Adama Barrow’s decision to let go Assan Faal after he made astonishing remarks against the Gambian leader in a recorded telephone conversation with a side-chick.
Angela told What’s On-Gambia that the former GiEPA boss, who she dated for more than nine months in 2011, is a pathological liar.
“We first met in 2008 when I interviewed him to be an Insurance Salesman for the American Republic Insurance Company. I was the district sales manager. We became very close friends and later started a company together called A&A Insurance Company in Illinois.
“However, when we started the business he stopped appearing. According to him, his mum was having cancer and his brother died in a car accident. I later discovered it was all lies. He left the business and I lost contact with him for a year.”
The 39-year-old old American revealed she started dating Assan after she bumped into him in Chicago.
“I always had a crush on him, but he was married and I didn’t want to start anything with him that could harm his marriage. But when I bumped into him, he told me he was divorced and I believed him.”
According to Angela, they started arguing when she became pregnant with their son, Patrick.
“He gave me an ultimatum that if I don’t have an abortion, he will leave me forever. I refused and he disappeared. He would not return calls. He said he doesn’t want to have anything to do with the child. I did not talk to him through the whole pregnancy.”
The American disclosed that Assan refused to be part of his son’s life, who is now 5 years old.
“Anytime he returns to America, I will press charges against him for child support.”
On the leaked telephone conversation
Angela revealed the lady who recorded the conversation was duped out of $130,000 by Assan.
“She gave him $130,000 to put into a hedge fund, but he disappeared with the money to The Gambia.”
When asked whether Assan was dating the lady, she said: “I cannot talk about that because it's her private life. I know she gave him the money to put in a hedge fund.”
Why Assan shouldn’t work in the Civil Service
According to Angela, the president should not rehire the former GiEPA boss. “In the USA, he stole large sums of money from people. If he returns back here, he can go to prison because he did investment fraud. Assan appears to be a nice person, a smooth talker but he is a wolf in sheep's clothing.”
