At TRRC, both Baba and Essa allegedly want to be president

Rumors are swirling that two of the most senior workers at the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) are harboring political ambitions. They are allegedly planning to launch their political careers.

"I heard both Baba Galleh Jallow and Essa Faal want to run for president. Baba has already tendered his resignation and he would leave immediately after handing over the final TRRC report to the president," said a source.

Baba is the executive secretary at the TRRC. He wrote on his Facebook: "I think my substantive service with the TRRC is completed and I need to start looking ahead in terms of career matters. Hence the early notice that I will be quitting on July 31, God willing."

A source disclosed: "Baba wanted to have a press conference shortly after tendering his resignation, but it was the chairman who advised him not to because it could affect public trust and confidence in the TRRC."

For Lead Counsel Essa Faal, many are already convinced that he would enter the political arena to unseat President Adama Barrow.

The famous lawyer is meeting members of his fans club on the 26th June at the Samega Janneh Hall in Serre Kunda East. He might disclose his intention to transform the club into a political party.

Most of the members of the Essa Faal Fans Club are young Gambians from diverse backgrounds.
