Back way semester claims he sent over D3m to Facebook girlfriend he never met

An Austria-based back way semester said he's broke and has no money in the bank after losing over D3m to a woman he met on Facebook.

Muhammed Camara, who arrived in Europe via the back way in 2007, claimed he sent money to the woman multiple times in 2021 to buy land and construct a house for him in Jamburr.

"I never met her, but I trusted her and that's why I sent money for her to build a house for me. I have all the receipts if you want to see," he said.

When asked whether he has no relative or close friend in The Gambia, Muhammed responded: "Both of my parents are deceased. I have no siblings. It's a long story."

He vehemently denied dating the woman, saying: "We were just close friends. She was interested in me but I wasn't ready for a relationship."

Muhammed threatened to kill the woman if "she doesnt return his money or show him the house she built from the millions he wired over to her."

"I think she took me to marabouts. I was just sending her money without thinking. Sometimes, I don't even understand what was wrong with me. She took me to marabouts," he claimed.

Speaking to What's On-Gambia, the woman, Maimuna said the Austria-based semester is a lunatic.

"I was not his friend. We were dating. I have naked photos of him on my mobile. Will you send naked photos to your friend? He saw me on Facebook and started contacting me and that's how the relationship started," she said.

Maimuna continued: "He was sending me money and gifts because I was his girlfriend. I was doing everything for him. I bought him three plots of land and he has all the papers. He never sent me money to build a house for him. He's lying."

Muhammed's former girlfriend is now married to a white man and has since blocked the semester on her WhatsApp and Facebook.
