After spending two weeks in a Mile Two Prison cell and having paid a fine of D15, 000 after pleading guilty to conspiring with a marabou to defraud one Ebrima Touray of over D1.5m, Munina Dicko has become Farafenni’s wealthiest girl.

Magistrate Sheriff Tabally convicted the young woman last year and since then, she has become rich overnight.

How Munina acquired her new found wealth remains a mystery to us and many people in her home town are baffled as to how the former convict acquired her riches.

A source told What’s On-Gambia: “Her father, who wasn’t very well off selling from a table at the market, now owns one of the biggest shops in Farafenni. Everyone is wondering where she got the money.”

In May 2014, Munina was hired by a marabou to play the role of a ‘jinneh’ who was prepared to marry his client, Ebrima Touray.  She agreed and was paid 34, 5000, which she later surrendered to the police.

At the time of the sentencing, the Farafenni beauty was charged with conspiracy to defraud, and obtaining money by false pretence.

As scandalous as all this may seem, the fact remains… Munina went from a MileTwo Prison cell to now enjoying the lifestyle of a celebrity, rubbing shoulders with the famous and rich.
