Many Gambians are confused why Haddy Faye has been engaged to her Syrian-born fiancé, Rafaat Al-Ahmar for such a long time.

She recently shared a photo of them on Facebook and her followers were left wondering when she will ever get her big day.

The couple have been engaged for many years now and have not tied the knot yet, but do spend a lot of nights together at Rafaat’s house in Pipeline.

However, a source close to them revealed to What’s On-Gambia that the big day is getting closer. According to her, Haddy’s recent visit to Europe and Turkey was to secure some of the things they need for their wedding, which is expected to attract famous Gambians from both the private and public spheres.

Meanwhile, Rafaat last month threatened to block What’s On-Gambia in The Gambia following a story they wrote about Haddy’s meeting with Mama Linguere Sarr in Sweden.

“He called me on my phone threatening to block us like if he owns the country. But he later apologised for his foolishness, “said What’s On-Gambia’s publisher.
