One would have imagined that only ordinary, unemployed and poor Gambians are bearing the brunt of the economic hardship in the country. Well, that assumption is flawed. Even celebrities are victims of the hard times.
Reports reaching What’s On-Gambia revealed that Njillan Cena Faye has left the country a couple of weeks ago in search of better opportunities in Europe. She’s now one of the newest Gambian illegal migrants.
Being sister to one of the most successful home grown businesswomen in the country, this news would come as a jaw-dropping shock to many.
“I heard she now lives in Europe but was unable to confirm where exactly in Europe,” said a source who claims to be close to the young socialite.
Since arriving in Europe, Njillan, who is well-known in the country’s entertainment industry, has quietly withdrawn from the spotlight deactivating some of her social media accounts.
However, she is not the only Gambian celebrity that abandoned the country to start a new life abroad. Among them include singer Nancy Nanz, who is currently struggling to secure a legal status in Germany.
