Fatou Camara alerts police after receiving threats

Fatou Camara has reported internet trolls to the Police after receiving messages threatening her with violence.

The outspoken journalist made the revelation during an appearance on US-based Freedom Radio’s Leral Show on Sunday.

According to her, she contacted the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Landing Kinteh and his PRO, Foday Conta.

Fatou has been the target of United Democratic Party (UDP) supporters for criticising the new government’s excessive spending on per diems.

She recently wrote on Facebook: “I really don’t get why ministers and Permanent Secretaries in The Barrow administration keep traveling every day. Some travel between three to four weeks collecting a per diem close to D300, 000 when there is no water and electricity in the country and after claiming that they inherited empty state coffers.”

One of UDP’s young militants in the Diaspora, Dahdah Suwareh labelled Fatou as a hypocrite, accusing her of “poisoning the minds of many ignorant Gambians.”

What’s On-Gambiacouldn’t confirm whether the IGP has ordered an investigation into the threats against the country’s most famous female journalist.
