A Gambian migrant residing in the German city of Pforzheim is facing allegations of seeking the services of a marabout in an attempt to sabotage the marriage of his ex-wife and her new husband.
The allegations were made by Omar Williams, the current husband of the woman at the centre of the controversy, Absa.
Speaking to What’s On-Gambia, Williams claimed that Alpha Jallow, Absa’s ex-husband, contacted a marabout to carry out rituals intended to destroy their relationship.
“Absa was my girlfriend before she met Alpha. We have a 13-year-old child together who lives with us here in Germany,” Williams explained. “She came to Germany through an invitation, and I arrived via the back way through Libya. Our relationship ended, and she later married Alpha in 2020. They also had a child.”
According to Williams, Absa and Alpha eventually divorced, and he and Absa reunited, marrying in 2021.
He claimed the discovery of the alleged marabout involvement was accidental.
“One day, Alpa’s child, who spends some days with him, came to our apartment with the father’s mobile phone,” he said. “Out of curiosity, we checked the phone and were shocked to find voice messages between Alpha and a marabout. We downloaded the messages before returning the phone to the child.”
When told that accessing private messages on another person’s device without consent could raise legal concerns, Williams defended his actions, stating: “How can that be illegal? This man was plotting against us. We needed evidence.”
One of the audio recordings includes instructions from the marabout, advising Alpha to collect rainwater, add sand and Harona perfume, and bathe in the mixture – a ritual believed to influence or disrupt personal relationships.
