Two young women, Eliana Jarju and Ndey Yassin Camara are among the top ten students in this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Eliana from St Peter’s Technical Senior Secondary School bagged 7As and 2Bs. Three years ago, around this time, she was the best student in The Gambia Basic Education Certificate Examination (GABECE).
One of her teachers described her as an exceptionally gifted and intelligent young woman.
For Ndey Yassin Camara, she is also known in her school, Gambia Senior Secondary School, for her academic prowess. According to information reaching What’s On-Gambia, she got 8As and 1B.
Ndey Yassin was the head girl of her school. She was also actively involved in school related extracurricular activities.
Both girls are half-orphans from disadvantaged backgrounds. They have similar dreams: to study medicine. Eliana wants to be a gynecologist while Ndey Yassin aspires to be a surgeon.
