A young woman, Isatou Jallow, has reported a Guinean marabout to the police, accusing him of asking her to undress and attempting to sleep with her at his house in Salaji.

Isatou claims the marabout tried to undress her without her consent.

Her brother shared more details with What's On-Gambia via a WhatsApp message: "My sister was at Mariama Kunda Junction, looking for a taxi. The marabout stopped and offered her lift. He took her number.

"He managed to convince my sister to visit him, and when she did, he asked her to undress, claiming he prepared something for her to wash her body with. My sister refused, and there was a struggle. Fortunately, she managed to escape."

When contacted, the marabout, Muhammed, denied the allegations, claiming: "She took my number and came to my place asking for help to find a husband. I have two wives - one here and another in Guinea.

"I am not an ordinary marabout. I was in Guinea, and some people brought me here to The Gambia for work."

The matter is currently under police investigation.
