It’s now more than six months since ex-President Yahya Jammeh left the State House for Equatorial Guinea after losing the presidential election. In this edition ofWhat’s On-Gambia, we take a look at some of his former ministers and what they are up to now.
Neneh MacDouall-Gaye
She was the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. Since Jammeh was voted out of office, Neneh has been scrupulously avoiding the public spotlight.
Sheriff Bojang
The former Minister of Information is back as the Managing Director ofStandard Newspaper, which is on the verge of becoming the country’s leading daily newspaper.
Abdou Colley
He now lives a quiet life in Kembujeh, Kombo Central. Abdou was the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs.
Bala Garba Jahumpa
He is one of the few former ministers that are desperately trying to bag a new job in Barrow’s administration. Bala, fondly known as Action Man, was one of Jammeh’s trusted men in the APRC party.
Abdou Jobe
He is also living a quiet life avoiding much contact with the public. Mr Jobe was the minister of Trade Industry, Regional Integration and Employment.
Fatou Lamin Faye
She was one of the closest ministers to Jammeh. The former Minister of Basic and Secondary Education has been out of the public eye for months.
Alieu Jammeh
The former Minister of Youth and Sports was in May appointed to oversee the University of The Gambia’s Planning Office. According to media reports, his appointment was approved by President Barrow.
Musa Amul Nyassi
The former Lands and Regional Government Minister is now a National Assembly Member representing Foni Kansala.
Benjamin Roberts
Like Neneh and some of his former cabinet colleagues, he has also withdrawn from the public spotlight.
Omar Sey
He was Jammeh’s Health Minister. Omar was recently conferred an award of excellence by the West African College of Nursing Secretariat based in Nigeria.
