Ousainou Darboe’s yellow party is under immense pressure to choose a candidate for the highest office in the Kanifing Municipality.

Impeachable sources have it that, more than 20 UDP members whose names are yet to be publicized, are throwing their hats into the ring for the mayoral seat and among them are prominent figures who believe they have what it takes to modernize the municipality to regional standard.

After 22 years of being occupied by APRC, there are already sufficient indicators that 2018 will see the most congested and unpredictable mayoral contest in the history of the country.

From what we know so far, former US Embassy staff Papa Njie, Human Rights Activist Bakary Badjie and former mayor Lie Conteh have all declared their candidacy.

Adama Bah, a well-known person in the country’s tourism sector, is also running for the position.

KMC is the busiest municipality in the country.
