Over 70 Gambian Muslims are on their way to the holy city of Mecca to perform hajj, thanks to the generosity of His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya AJJ Jammeh Babili Mansa.
The mayor of Kanifing Municipality, Alhaji Yankuba Colley, who doubles as the APRC National Mobiliser described the gesture as a tradition from the President.
“He wants Gambians to have a better life here and hereafter,” he said.
One of the beneficiaries of the presidential Hajj package is the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Abdoulie Bojang.
He thanked the Gambian leader for selecting him to be among the blessed ones to perform this year’s hajj.
The pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia is one of the five pillars of Islam and required of all able-bodied Muslims at least once in their lifetime.
