In an effort to support the fight against malaria in The Gambia, Jorna Fatoumata Saho is launching a new jewelry line on the 4th December, 2015 in her native Holland.
In an interview with What’s On-Gambia, Jorna said 25% of the profits from each jewelry sold will be donated to organizations involved in malaria prevention through advocacy, procurement and distribution of free nets.
She said: “People who know me personally, know my connection to The Gambia and the fact that I lost my mum in The Gambia due to malaria in December 2012. I really want to do something against malaria in the country I love the most.”
The fashion designer continued: “I decided to let fashion fight malaria!!”
Jorna will also unveil her new collection, Beugue Yayam on the 4th December.
“The collection is a fresh and happy one, that 'breaths' Africa in every handmade piece. It can be worn perfectly paired with a blazer, biker jacket, tights or a pair of tough boots, for a complete winter look with a touch of African sunshine. And let's be honest: who doesn't need that?”
“That night I'll also launch the web shop where the collection will be exclusively sold (www.chocolatesisterscouture.com).”
Jorna is the wife of famous Gambian musician, Jali Lamin Saho.
