The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) are visibly unwavering in their quest to convince Kekuta Manneh to join the national team.
The Scorpions are faced with an uphill climb to qualify for the 2015 African Cup of Nations, and as Coach Savoy confirmed, for there to be any chance, more experienced and sharp players like Manneh are needed.
But the question is will GFF succeed in luring the US-based player to wear the national colours of his native country?
Kekuta who started his career with Bakau team, Steve Biko FC, disclosed during a recent interview with an American radio: “I definitely consider the U.S. to be a home.”
He was among the international footballers who were called up for the match against Cameroun that ended 1-0 against The Gambia. He pulled out at last minute for reasons still unknown to GFF.
According to National Coach Roaul Savoy, The Gambia needs experienced players in the front to be able to score.
Kekuta, who is currently signed by Vancouver Whitecaps FC in Canada, is seemingly not very keen on joining the Scorpions. His priority right now is to bag an American citizenship and possibly fight for a place in the U.S. team.
