The Gambia has progressed to the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Monday thanks to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Guinea Conakry.
The second-half goal by Musa Barrow was enough to get the job done for the national team. Many took to social media to praise the Italian Serie A player.
Here is what the Ministry of Youth and Sports had to say after the game.
"Congratulations to our goalscorer Musa Barrow, for winning the Man of The Match award. Out of 4 games, Laka Barrow won two Man of the Match award in our Maiden edition in the continent highest football competition. The Gambia is proud of you and the achievement of the entire team."
South African broadcaster, SuperSport said Barrow's clinical finish saw The Gambia claim another victory to make it to the quarter-finals.
In a Facebook post that garnered over 8,000 likes, the Italy-based player wrote: "The fans keep on believing and we keep on believing. Thanks to Allah who made it possible. This victory goes to our fans. Let's keep on believing, win win inshallah."
The Gambia will take on Cameroon on Saturday.
