A Sweden-based Gambian woman has accused her backway husband of making life a living hell for her after securing his Swedish residence permit.

The young mother disclosed to What's On-Gambia: "I was married to one Yaya Sagna for the sake of Allah because he wanted paper. But he turned my life upside down now. He made the authorities give him sole custody of my child after lying against me."

She continued: I am now trying to get my son back. We are both in new relationships. He wants to take me out of my son's life. There is nothing more painful than being denied access to your child. I don’t want my child to grow up thinking I abandoned him."

According to her, her now estranged husband came to Europe via the back way. They met on Facebook and she later invited him to Sweden.

"We met on Facebook. He came into my life pretending to be a good Muslim. Stressed me into marriage and pregnancy. I did what he wanted for the sake of Allah," she said.

The woman alleged that her estranged husband left her when she was seven months pregnant.

"After giving birth, I went with the child to The Gambia for 7-8 months. He didn't help us with anything. When I returned to Sweden, he went and lied to the authorities that I took our son without his consent. We went to court and he was given sole custody.

"I need help to regain access to my child. I am nothing but a mother that wants to be part of my child's life. . He wasn’t part of my son's life until he was one."

Both the woman and her estranged husband live in Stockholm - Sweden's capital city.
