New details are emerging about Edward and Peter Singhateh’s past. The famous biracial brothers are among those accused of committing atrocities during the two-year military rule of the Armed Forces Provisional Ruling Council (AFPRC)

According to famous social media commenter, Femi Mahoney, the “barbaric nature” of the Singhateh brothers may have been precipitated by the early experiences they’ve been through as kids.

He disclosed: “The father of the Singhatehs is a Gambian who hailed from Foday Kunda in Wuli. Their late father lived and worked in the United Kingdom for years. It was during that period in the UK when he met his British wife who later became the mother of his kids, of which Edward and Peter were amongst.

“When the father decided to return home to The Gambia with his family, they trekked with a caravan through the back way routes. Upon arrival in the country in their caravan, the Singhtehs had no money, but they were hosted by the people of Bakau who were so kind to them.

“The boys and their other siblings were later enrolled at the local schools in Bakau, where the late Sainey Ceesay, the father of Koro Ceesay who they alleged murdered welcomed and looked after them.”

Femi further revealed: “It was the people of Bakau that helped them through their hardship. Then on the passing of their father, the former Secretary General, Sara Janha took over their responsibility as father and guardian.

“With this background, one would have thought these boys would not have been so barbaric to a country and people that did so much for them.”

One of Femi’s followers, Awa Ceesay commented: “They were not accepted into the army because of their nationality issues.  Sara Janha had to go to the house of parliament to argue that one parent Gambian qualified them. Supported by Sidia Jatta.”

Kawsu Koringbaa Sanyang in the UK appealed to the Singhateh brothers to come forward and sincerely apologise to their victims and Gambians.
