A Senegalese national, Serigne Abdoulaye Faye, has been extradited from The Gambia to Senegal after being arrested in connection with allegations involving “homosexual acts”, including claims involving children.
Serigne Abdoulaye, also known on social media as “Mara Milliardaire,” reportedly fled Senegal and took up residence in the Greater Banjul Area, where he is said to have rented an apartment and paid several months’ rent in advance.
Authorities in The Gambia arrested him last week in an operation involving Interpol and the Gambian police. Following his arrest, he was briefly detained before being transferred to the Senegalese authorities.
Upon his return to Senegal, Serigne Abdoulaye was questioned by investigators and subsequently charged with multiple counts. He has since been remanded in custody while investigations continue.
According to reports, several individuals identified as alleged victims have also been interviewed as part of the ongoing inquiry.
The case comes amid recent legal developments in Senegal. In March 2026, the country’s parliament passed legislation increasing penalties for same-sex relations and introducing additional restrictions, including provisions targeting the promotion of homosexuality.
Serigne Abdoulaye is expected to remain in custody pending further legal proceedings.
