ST is the biggest earner of this year’s Open Mic Festival, pocketing D50, 000 to entertain the crowd at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on December 25.
A source, who claims to be close to the organizers, disclosed that the Brikama Boyo bagged a lot more cash than the rest of the musicians.
What’s On-Gambiawas unable to confirm how much was forked out to the other major artists like Bai Babu and Benjahmin.
However, the stars’ payouts are all reportedly more than what was splashed out on Gee and Manding Morry last year.
Some music promoters are not happy with the low paychecks given to the musicians.
Former radio presenter, Afrodeezy Njie took to Facebook suggesting that each artist should receive more than D100, 000.
“Congratulations to all the artistes that made it! Hope you all are being paid at least D100, 000 because it's The Gambia’s biggest event,”she wrote.
Afrodeezy added: “I am not fighting for anyone, I am just saying!”
Nine solo artists and two boy bands are booked for the country’s biggest music festival taking place on Christmas day. Four of the solo artists are new to Open Mic.
