Sukuta Police are looking for help in identifying a man wanted for an assault that happened on Tuesday on a commercial van.
According to reports, the man allegedly slapped and punched a 36-year-old woman in the middle of an argument, causing very nasty injuries.
The woman's brother, Lamin Dibba told What's On-Gambia: "We want to identify him and hand him over to the police for prosecution. The injuries he inflicted on my sister are gruesome."
He continued: "According to my sister, the guy was angry with her after telling him to shift a little bit so that they can all fit on the back seat of the van. They got into an argument and he started beating her. He had a ring in one of his fingers and that was what he used to hit my sister."
When asked how the man managed to escape after the assault, Lamin responded: "He got off at Sukuta Traffic Light. She followed him but got no help. I arrived there late."
Photos show the victim, who was on her way home from MRC, with a swollen eye and dark, purple bruises on her face and hands.
Anyone with information on the man and his whereabouts can contact Inspector Jawo of Sukuta Police on 3949476.
