Scamming everywhere! Zenith Bank warns customers to be wary of crooks

One of the biggest Nigerian banks on Kairaba Avenue, Zenith Bank, has warned its customers to ignore anyone asking them to confirm personal details on the phone, by sms or online.

In an e-mail sent to their customers last week, the bank wrote: “Please note that Zenith Bank will never require you to disclose any personal banking details over the phone, by sms or online, to any of its staff or representatives.

"These details include access code, password, email address, email password, ATM pin, mobile pin, Bank Verification Number (BVN), token code etc.

“Please disregard all communications that ask for these details as these are ‘phising’ attempts to defraud you. Your online security is our priority.”

This type of scam is becoming increasingly popular. It is called ‘phising’ and most times traps people by luring them into handing over details to what they believe are genuine correspondences from banks.
