Fulas are always afraid of violence. They always run away before it strikes.
So, it is not surprising that majority of the people fleeing the country, since Jammeh rejected the election result, are Fulas.
They’re heading to Guinea Conakry, where they hope they would get the protection they need if Gambia plunges into war.
A source in Brikama told What's On Gambia: “There is no Pular Futa left in my area. They are all gone."
The source continued: “They are scared that Jammeh may resort to violence to stay in power despite losing the election to Barrow.”
Could this be the reason why Gambia Transport Service Corporation launched a new international express service from Banjul to Koundara, Guinea Conakry on Sunday?
