Nollywood celebs turned out last Saturday for the international premiere of Battered at the Greenwich Odeon, London. 

A film by Gambia’s own Fatima Jabbe, Battered portrays domestic violence.  In an earlier interview with What’s On-Gambia, the prominent actress-cum-producer said violence against women is an obstacle to the achievement of equality, development and peace. 

Also present at the premiere were veteran actors like Lanre Balogun and sprouting Gambian international actress, Marie Gomez. 

Fatima, delighted with the support she received, said: “I want to thank my God for everything he has done for me including making my own film and premiering it in the UK, it’s been a long journey but with him I know I am safe to cross the road of the unknown. I want to thank all my cast and crew for their hard work in making the premiere a success. Battered is to be premiered in The Gambia on the 20^th December, 2013 and after the New Year, Fatima will head to Ghana, Nigeria and few other West African countries to promote the movie.
