While most of his fellow politicians are busy building luxury homes, Sidia Jatta still lives in a line house in Bundung.
”The country’s resources belong to every citizen,” he told Gambian Talents Promotion, who were visiting his home for the Koriteh celebration on Saturday.
The former presidential candidate and chairman of the People's Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism (PDOIS) said taxpayers’ money should be spent wisely, efficiently, and sustainably.
According to a PDOIS insider, Sidia, who could afford several homes, donates part of his salary to benefit the poor in his constituency of Wuli West and to help young Gambians.
“He still pretty much lives the same kind of life as he did before becoming a politician.”
During his chat with Gambian Talent Promotions, Sidia said a successful and purposeful life as a politician is about knowing who you are, what you stand for and leading with a purpose in everything you do.
He added that Gambians should try to develop a democracy free of bribery.
