The Gambia’s Jhus is fast becoming UK’s most popular rapper

His music video Did You See has garnered more than  44 million views since being uploaded on YouTube earlier this year.

Momodou Jallow, better known by his stage name Jhus, is fast becoming the most popular rapper in England after bagging four nominations for this year’s MOBO Awards to be held in Leeds on the 29th November, with massive performances from the world’s top musicians.

According to BBC, the 21-year-old is nominated for Best Male, Best Album, Best Song and Best Video.

Jhus told journalists: “"My music is getting better. I'm working harder and I appreciate it. I want to win all four."

His debut album, Common Sense, was released on the 12th May 2017 and it went straight to number 3 on the iTunes chart, peaking at number 6 on the UK Albums Chart.

"The album did well. I wanted people to see me as diverse and I wanted to make proper music that will last," he said.

The Guardian Newspaper described Common Sense as a euphoric triumph.

Jhus was born and raised in London. According to him, he came to music through his mother and stepdad playing African music and Beenie Man at home.
