One of the most respected Gambian professors at the University of The Gambia (UTG) has voiced his support for Bakary Badjie in the upcoming KMC mayoral elections, declaring that he is 100% for the independent candidate.
Dr Sidat Yaffa, who is an associate professor of agronomy, said Bakary is an objective individual who has women and youths at heart.
He told Standard Newspaper: “Of course there are other independent candidates but I didn’t see any manifesto from any of those candidates and two, I never had any interactions with any of those people. So those are the two major factors amongst others I am supporting Bakary Badjie.”
Meanwhile, two of the candidates in the KMC mayoral contest, Skeikh Omar Saho and Momodou Jaiteh have pulled out to throw their weight behind Bakary Badjie.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Bakary said: “We are the winning team only interested in a KMC that serve the people.”
It is expected that most of Sheikh Omar and Momodou’s supporters, specifically those from London Corner and Kololi, will also join the campaign to elect the father-of-three.
