Despite all the media attention the presidential election generated, Gambians know surprisingly very little about their next First Lady.
Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow kept a very low profile throughout the campaign with some wondering whether all was well in her marriage with president-elect, Adama Barrow.
Based in Yarambamba in the West Coast Region, Fatoumatta is Barrow’s first wife. They have two children together.
The Fula beauty stunner will be the third Gambian-born First Lady to take up residence in the State House.
One of her neighbours told What’s On-Gambia: “She’s very good with her husband, family and her neighbours. Very friendly and kind-hearted.”
Fatoumatta grew up in a Fula family, but speaks other local languages. Unlike her predecessor, her linguistic prowess could help her a lot during state functions. But it has been noticed that she struggles with English.
It is not yet clear whether Fatoumatta’s co-wife will also move to the presidential house in Banjul.
