Gambian girls win D1 million on French TV quiz show

When Aisatou Cisse and her cousin sister Sarata  Marena went on the French TV channel, TF1’s Money Drop they had a game and it was to win thousands of Euros.

It was their lucky day. Guess what? The Paris-based girls walked away with €20,000.

What’s On-Gambiacontacted one of the girls, Aisatou Cisse to find out more about her and how she intends to spend her quiz cash.

What’s On-Gambia: Tell us briefly about yourself?

Aisatou:I am 27 years old, a Mandinka girl from Niani Karantaba. My cousin, Sarata Marena is 26 and she is from Niani Dobo and also a Mandinka.

You won €20,000 on TV. How did that happen?

We took part in a TV quiz program called Money Drop and luckily we won €20,000.

Is the program popular in France?

It is a very popular program, but very difficult to emerge as a winner.

How did you celebrate your big win?

We had dinner with our two families.

How do you intend to spend your share of the money (€10,000)?

I am preparing my wedding and part of the money will be spent on it. The rest I will use to help my family.

Are you planning a fairytale wedding?

No, it is going to be traditional Mandinka wedding.

What is your profession?

We both work in a bank.

How often do you visit The Gambia?

We were both there last august during our summer break.

Do you know any Gambian celebrity?

Yes, Manding Morry.
