A Germany-based Gambian, Bubacarr Komma has put The Gambia up for sale on eBay, an American auction site.
He wrote on Facebook: “Finally, this might be a better solution for all of us. I have put our country on sale. Potential buyers can visit eBay.”
He went further to detail the reasons for putting The Gambia on eBay saying money from the sale will be shared among Gambians to help them apply for citizenship in other countries.
One Modou Nget commented: “Mr. Bubacarr Komma, The Gambia is a sovereign republic. In it lives sovereign, independent people who most not be treated or mistaken as mere goods. I understand your frustration.”
Bubacarr who works as a freelance journalist in Germany is originally from the Central River Region. His friends on Facebook include National Assembly Member Alhagie S Darboe and Defence Minister Sheikh Omar Faye.
