Child rights activist, Salimatou Fatty caught up in visa scam saga

Eh, the vanguards for vulnerable people do have vulnerabilities. Salimatou Fatty is renowned in activisms for the rights and welfare of the child.

But when she appears before Magistrate Omar Jabang of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, she will look after the rights and welfare of her empowered self, against two alleged visa scammers Sambujang Dampha and Famara Jammeh.

Ms. Fatty allegedly paid money to the two men to help her secure a visa for her to pursue further studies abroad but never delivered their promise to her.

When the men were arraigned last week before Magistrate Omar Jabang, they denied scamming the young activist, who is desperate to attend university in either Europe or America.  They were subsequently granted a bail of D175, 000 each with two Gambian sureties. The case resumes today.

Salimatou is a World at School Global Youth Ambassador. She also has her own Foundation that encourages children to stay in school.
