The country’s youngest principal magistrate, Omar Jabang has returned home recently after living in exile in the USA for more than a year.

He fled the country shortly after he was released from detention by the Gambia Police Force (GPF).

According to sources, former President Yahya Jammeh was not happy with Jabang’s decision to acquit and discharge multi-millionaire Yusupha Saidy who was charged with conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence.

Yusupha was an easy target, according to a source.

“He was married to Fatou Camara, and I guess that could be the reason why the former president wanted him in Mile Two,” said the source.

Additionally, Mr. Saidy provided the bail bond for his former wife which saw her left the country after a long spell at the now-defunct notorious NIA headquarters in Banjul.

The young magistrate, who is yet to publicly announce his return to The Gambia, has since been reinstated.

Jabang is widely believed to be one of the brightest young legal luminaries in the country. He was appointed magistrate shortly after finishing the University of The Gambia law programme and graduating with honours. He was also the valedictorian at the Gambia Law School emerging as the most outstanding student.
