Tour operators to resume holiday flights on Friday

European tour operators will resume charter flights to The Gambia at the end of this week.

The move to resume holiday flights came as the country returns to normal after a political impasse that dragged on for more than a month.

One of the major hotels in the country, Kombo Beach disclosed on their Facebook page: “We are pleased to let you know that more and more of our partners have started selling holidays to Gambia and Kombo Beach again. Leading the way is The Gambia Experience - Holidays to The Gambia with a flight this Friday 27/1 and then more flights the week after and so back to normal.”

They added: “Also Corendon Vliegvakanties is starting next week from the 1st  of February with their 3 weekly flights and also TravelPoort has started selling their holidays to Gambia again.”

“We also just got news that Thomas Cook UK is resuming their flights, but are reducing it from 7 flights to only 4 flights.

Vingresor - Ving Sverige AB from Stockholm and Tjäreborg from Finland also have their holidays up for sale, likewise Jetair from Belgium and FTI Touristik & Meiers Weltreisen from Germany.”

The tour operators pulled out of The Gambia after the National Assembly passed a resolution to allow the former president, who lost the election, to stay in office for three months.

The decision raised tensions with ECOWAS threatening to forcefully remove Jammeh from State House. He later decided to cede power and left the country with his family.
